Optima Independent Brings Immersive Learning to NAIS PoCC (People of Color Conference) 2024

Optima Independent is excited to announce its participation in the upcoming National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) People of Color Conference (PoCC), scheduled for December 4-7, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA. This annual event brings together educators and leaders dedicated to promoting leadership, professional development, and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools.

At PoCC, Optima Independent will showcase its extensive Digital Content Library, which includes over 250 virtual reality locations, more than 5,000 immersive effects, and over 30 interactive AI avatars that include historical figures like Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman and Abraham Lincoln. This library is designed to enhance educational experiences by providing interactive, collaborative, and immersive teacher-led activities in VR, allowing educators to bring learning to life with hands-on lessons.

Attendees are invited to visit Optima Independent's exhibit at booth TT20 to explore how these innovative VR resources can be integrated into curricula to engage students and enrich learning environments. The team will be hosting live demonstrations of the technology, including the opportunity to interview and interact with Rosa Parks’ AI avatar while on the show floor.

Attendees are also invited to meet Adam Mangana, Optima’s Chief Innovation Officer. Featured in Essence as the founder of the world’s first virtual reality charter school, Adam is a highly respected pioneer in the education and technology industries. Adam is a Teach for America Alumni, an Albert Bennett award recipient, and Omega Psi Phi Incorporated member. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Brown University with a double major in Classics and Public and Private Sector Organizations and a Master's Degree in Independent School Leadership from Vanderbilt University.
